Say the herd and I'm there
This past Wednesday TG, Erica, and I were too busy to eat supper before church.
I don't remember why. Things just happen around here.
So we decided it would be appropriate to swing by Chick-fil-A after prayer meeting and live it up.
That's when I learned that two days hence -- from then; that being today -- was designated as Dress Like Me -- Git Free Chikin day.
"Me" being one of the famous Chick-fil-A cows.
And I turned to Erica and I said, "We should get up early on Friday and go to Chick-fil-A for breakfast and spend most of the day watching people show up dressed like cows."
So we did. I mean, we are. I am still here and I regret to say, not dressed like a cow.
The longer I stay -- as I write we're going into the third hour -- the more I become enamored of the quintessential American phenomenon that is Chick-fil-A.
To quote TG: "I love this place."
I mean, they put fresh flowers on the tables. Every day.
While Erica and I were eating breakfast a nice lady came in with bunches of blossoms and changed out all the vases.
Later as we sat using their free Wi-Fi, a manager cruised by our table to see if we needed anything. We chatted for a few minutes. Getting ready to move on, he asked us again if there was anything we lacked.
I pointed upward and over our heads. "I think it would be nice if y'all fixed that light," I said. I was laughing. "I mean, it's not like you don't have the money."
He laughed too and said he hadn't noticed that one of the can lights in a large heavy wooden thing that hangs down from the drop ceiling, was actually missing and the plastic innards poking out.
Several light bulbs -- in fact, almost all of them -- were out as well.
He promised me he'd see to the broken light and thanked me for pointing it out.
Within minutes he was back with another fellow, pointing up to the broken light. Less then five minutes after that, said fine fellow was on a ladder, fixing the light.
Twenty minutes later, not only was a new can light installed, but all the bulbs were twinkling once again.
That is what I call service.
Everybody is so sweet here. I dare you to find someone at a Chick-fil-A who is willing to both work there and be rude to you.
Speaking of sweet, I just ate for the third time since arriving here at eight fifteen this morning.
Breakfast. Elevenses. And just now? Dessert. A tiny sundae.
Somewhere in the restaurant, little children are singing.
There have been umpteen photo opportunities, up to and including the giant cow who seems to be channeling the NBA.
They brought out a boom box and played Celebrate Yourself so the oversized beef critter could do a sort of bovine boogie.
We've been sitting here for three and a half hours now and I guess it's time we cleared out, although managers keep drifting by, assuring us we may stay as long as we like.
Maybe we'll come back later, when we get hungry again. All I have to do is put on a pair of floppy white paper ears with a few black spots colored on, and I'll get free chikin.
The manager says they never argue with anybody about the validity of their costume. I just saw a lady wearing all black, with a white hand-shaped balloon inflated and stuck to her tummy to resemble udders. The cowbells sounded and she got free chikin.
My kind of place. The customer is always welcome and always right. No excuses. Good food, courteous service, and plenty of it.
God bless Truett Cathy and God bless America.

I am sad to tell you that I have never eaten there! There is a sad lack of Chick-fil-A in our whole area. I'd had to drive to another state. But, if I ever get the chance I'll be there - supporting them and their beliefs too!
God bless the folks like Truett Cathy and his family. The world needs a lot more of them. We adore Chick-fil-A's food and customer service. The world needs more businesses like that.
Man, you East-coasters get to have all the fun.

LOL...I like Chick-Fil-A. One of my blogging friend's hubby runs one in VA. And I thoroughly enjoyed the crowds that swamped our local Chick-Fil-As in support of the franchise when the libs tried to "punish" them not so long ago.
And no, I've never been to one dressed like a cow. I 'spect I'd look more like a hawg ;-)
