O Holy Night: Il Divo
TG and I are headed up to North Carolina today, to be with our granddaughter, Melanie Noel, on her fourth birthday (Sunday).
Melanie's mom, dad, and sister -- baby Allissa! -- are a big draw too.
Melly was born on the shortest day of the year ... meaning, on Monday the days will begin getting longer! That is something to rejoice about ... and so is this riveting performance of O Holy Night by Il Divo.
In a word: smooth.
Oh, and ... turn up the bass and the volume as high as you dare.
It's no secret I am a big fan of this group, and you will be too if you're not already, and if you enjoy classical crossover, and if you listen to them for very long! Their new album, The Promise, is in my opinion their best ... and I should know because I have memorized their previous offerings, namely Il Divo, Ancora, Siempre, and The Christmas Collection.
The title track is definitive Il Divo, but all eleven songs on this record are fantastic. Their arrangements and orchestration, always wonderful, this time are truly stellar. Besides The Promise (La Promessa), my favorites from the CD are The Power of Love, Enamorado, and Amazing Grace.
Just so you know!
Do yourself a favor and pick up a copy of The Promise to enjoy in your car and at home during the long winter months ahead. Besides being beautiful, I think you will find it lush, romantic, thrilling, dramatic, and most inspiring.
Oh, and ... turn up the bass and the volume as high as you dare.
Without further ado I give you Carlos Marin, David Miller, Sébastien Izambard, and Urs Bűhler ... collectively and divinely known as Il Divo ... singing O Holy Night as only four young, charming, handsome, talented, sophisticated, classically trained, Armani-clad men can do.
Merry Christmas and Happy Weekend, everyone!

Did you know that Il Divo will perform in Northern Virginia in May? Perhaps they will in SC as well.
Hi Kathy! My daughter and I have been watching their North American tour, hoping they'll get close enough that we might be able to see them. I'm going to wait until they're a bit closer than Northern Virginia, as that would be quite a drive! I hope you get to take in a show!
